If upgrade from v7:
step1. upload all files except the "my" folder.
step2. go to admin=>modules, click "update modules".
done.

if you follow paul's sugestion , you will lose lots of you content.

8 steps to mindless upgrade!

1.) open the zip file
2.) find /upgrade_from/file
3.)Upload and replace following folders & files:
includes/
modules/
files/common_css/style.css
themes/default/page.tpl.php
4.) goto yoursite.com/
5.) log into your admin
6.) find mods
7.) update mods
8.) done

I have basic knowledge about coding where do I have to open this files in the Cpanel to upload this files. Please, can you explain it in more details so that I can do it in the cpanel. I just bought the new version. Thanks
