i think you need to download the free version of jcow 4.2 and after install the paid extentions.

backing up your database and testing this version in a non-production environment (your computer) could be some good ideas.

Downside of this updates is that when you have your own modifications, you have to start all over again.

Yeah that's right John.
Currently you need to downlaod 4.2 free and then install premium extensions.

Hmm... this looks like a complete install from the beginning? Time consuming and my community is building nicely, so I don't want to take any chances on messing it all up! Can you tell me what's in the advanced admin module so that I can decide whether to take the site offline for long enough to get it all running, or wait for the next version?

That would be really halepful!

john, well that is my point:

replace the old includes and modules files with the new once.

but if you modified the original files, adding for ex. mutual friends, that code will disapeare too, and you have to put it back again.

and i'm sure version 4.2, like older versions, will have bugs in it. I found already a minor bug in the new default template: a link to a non-existing image of an non-existing module called fblogin.

back up database --> phpMyAdmin --> export --> structure --> check checkbox drop table --> start button below

in case of trouble: --> phpMyAdmin --> import --> upload the backup file --> start button below --> the existing db-tables will be removed and created again and the old data inserted.

Thanks, as ever, Falcone! This is all familiar to me so I'll get onto it when I can... but what IS in that new admin module?

I'd like the possiblity of not being able to change my user name from 'admin' without changing everybody else's, if possible!
