I have a need to be able to lock down my community. Is it possible to allow people to sign up, but they are not allowed to see or do anything until they have been approved?

I think you can use the user permissions:

  • in the "user roles" section, create a new user role (like approved-user)
  • in the "user permissions" section, give the permissions to only approved-user. And take back permissions from "general member". So that only "approved-user" can do those things.

Currently there are a couple of permissions you can set: "Browse Public Activities", "Browse members", "Custom profile", "Share stories", "Add Comments", "Upload files".
We will also add something like "General reading", "General post".

Thanks for your question, your idea is good.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /hermes/bosweb/web199/b1997/ipw.epowerco/public_html/chrisbook/includes/actions/admin/admin.php on line 32

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /hermes/bosweb/web199/b1997/ipw.epowerco/public_html/chrisbook/includes/actions/admin/admin.php on line 40/

its getting more and more frustrating to see this behavior (:

I am sorry to come back again and again for these issues..

Is there a way to allow people to login, but not allow anyone to signup on the main page. As an administrator I would like to signup certain people, and keep the community private.
