Very disappointed

My webhost has just installed softaculous and one of the items listed is jcow. At first I was excited as it seemed to have everything I needed for the site I was building, but as I'm building a site for a group of local musicians the music section needs to work, and it doesn't.

I went through the process of installation, no -apparent- problems, filled out my profile ok, created and uploaded a new photo album ok, started a blog ok, tried to upload music not ok.

It says that I have uploaded the file (although accessing my site via ftp I couldn't find an mp3 file anywhere) and if I click on the file link it adds each click as a 'listens' but does not play any music. Which for me, sort of defeats the purpose.

Also the video section does not allow for video uploading, just youtube embedding, which means double work, first creating a youtube account, uploading the video to youtube and then embedding it into the jcow system, way too much work for my clients.

If this works in the pay version great but I'm not spending my clients money on a system that doesn't work (more than happy to buy the pay version if the free version worked for me)

So, 3 hours after installation I've had to delete jcow as without the music and video sections it's worthless.

Keep up the good work, and if you ever get the video/music situation cleared up I might re-examine jcow, but for now I'm sorry to say it gets a big thumbs down from me.

And yes I've looked for solutions in the forums and I see someone else with the same problem who's query has gone unanswered for almost 2 months so I'm guessing that there's no support for the free version either.

And I'm sorry, but if I wanted my site to look like facebook, I'd just join facebook.

Regards
Me.

The possible reason is that you are not using newest version or your "uploads" folder is not configured writable.

We are considering to release a "video uploading". But it is not useful for general sites because of the HIGH CPU load(ffmpeg) and bandwidth use.

Next time please post this kind of thread directly to the "bug report" or "feature request" forums.(this thread moved to "bug report")
Thanks.

I've problems too but I think JCow is a VERY GOOD plataform.I think JCow is very new,so the problems are very normal.I tryed others scrips and believe me,it's the best I've ever tryed.I don't like some things in Jcow but it's another story.
One of the best things,it's VERY LIGHT!,less than 1mb!Amazing!
Cheers!
